255 BC.png

Note this solar eclipse would have been visible in Joppa( modern day Tel Aviv) and Carthage. The First Punic War was being fought in Sicily and North Africa. This ended in Roman naval domination of the Western Mediterranean. The Romans had a distasterous naval defeat in 255 BC and lost a Roman fleet in a storm off Sicily, 275 ships and over 100,000 men.
